On the occasion of, April 28, World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Masdaf General Manager Erhan Özdemir emphasized the vital importance of promoting a culture of occupational health and safety and raising awareness, drawing attention to the data shared by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Social Security Institution of Türkiye (SGK).
According to 2024 data from the ILO, approximately 3 million people worldwide lose their lives each year due to work-related accidents and occupational diseases. Of these deaths, 2.6 million are caused by work-related illnesses and 330,000 by occupational accidents. In addition, 395 million workers are exposed to non-fatal occupational accidents each year.
FBased on 2023 data published by SGK, a total of 681,655 insured employees in Türkiye experienced work-related accidents, resulting in 1,972 fatalities. Furthermore, 946 insured employees were diagnosed with occupational diseases.
